Su Su demands to sign up for the army. Yue Fei tells her to go home. Lots of sexist arguments going on here. Yue Fei lets her take part in the exam, which is just a one on one duel. Su Su is up against Lil Bro. He blindly hits at her. She kicks his butt. Yue Fei silently passes by. Next is an archery test. Aw, Lil Bro is so sincere, and you can tell he tries so hard. Being Yue Fei’s little brother is so hard, not only because he’s so perfect, but also he is so strict and harsh on men. It’s Wang Gui who gives him words of encouragement. Su Su steps on his foot, and Lil Bro’s arrow lands on the target. Finally, there’s horseback riding. Aw, you can’t help but feel sorry for Lil Bro, who falls off his horse and makes a fool of himself. Su Su is put in a reconnaissance group, and she protests because she won’t be able to see Yue Fei all the time.
I’m about to throttle her, but the scene cuts to Yue Fei opening the presents from his family: his favorite snack (from momma), calligraphy (from son), and an embroidered handkerchief (from daughter). He sheds some tears.
Lil Bro is sent to the cooking team LOL. The rest of the cooking team gossips about him. He’s pretty good at cooking, throwing in some martial arts moves too. Aw, I love how he dedicates himself fully even though it’s not his ideal work. But the sounds of soldiers practicing distract him, and he practices with his spatula. Yue Fei spots him and gives a little smile.
Everyone enjoys the food. Bro Squad compliments Lil Bro until he’s all smiles. General Zong returns to camp, smarting from a recent loss. The generals all debate strategy v. courage. Yue Fei has to work with one of the baddie generals to win the lost battle. I have a bad feeling about this partnership…
The armies have a face off. They stand there glaring at each other. The bandit army slowly walks closer so the generals can shout at each other. They charge at each other. Like I expected, the baddie general doesn’t provide back up. I hope you die a terrible death. His subordinate tries to hurry him. Thank God, General Zong is informed and orders baddie to send in reinforcements. Lil Bro hears about it, and wants to save his brother. The kitchen staff run after him, carrying pot lids and chopping knives.
And you see a little army of chefs charging in as reinforcements. I’m a little touched, but mostly laughing my head off. OH FUCK the bandit that challenged Yue Fei in the beginning just stabs Lil Bro through the chest. Yue Fei looks on, horrified. I’m sorry for laughing, bring him back!!!!!!!!
Yue Fei flies to his brother’s side, and the tears start coming down. Baddie general rides up, and Yue Fei looks up with burning hatred. Baddie general has the decency to look a little embarrassed. I’m ready to strangle him.
Yue Fei cries and buries his brother.
WHY DID THEY KILL HIM?! HE’S JUST SUCH A MINOR MINOR CHARACTER, IT DOESN’T EVEN MATTER. HE WAS SO CUTE AND BUMBLY AND HARDWORKING I JUST CAN’T. YOU STUPID SHOW.
And damn it General Zong, why the hell do you need Yue Fei to prove himself, when he’s done it so many times already. Why do you just listen to baddie generals. UGHHHHHH.
